The Pre Quarter final stage of Euros is finally over and we have our 8 teams that have earned their place in the last 8 the tournament. It was a big match on the card for every team as the knockouts are always like now or never and that’s why demanded the performance of their star players. Some players came in as the heroes for their team and some did their job quietly and proved their worth in the team.
5 best performers from the round of 16 encounters at the Euros
Here we look at the 5 of the best performers in the round of 16 stages-
Antonio Conte before the start of the tournament had a deep faith in the Brazilian born striker Eder and he has delivered according to the faith that was banked upon him. Eder was an unlikely name for the Italian team and wasn’t guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup and soon after just 4 matches has become their best performer. He is the one that has made the Italian team lively in the attack and has also scored a goal for his team. He was instrumental in the victory against Spain and truly proved that what he is capable of doing.
Ragnar Sigurdsson was an unlikely player that anyone didn’t even know about and has showcased his talent to the whole world with his stirring performances. He has led the defensive back line of Iceland brilliantly and has been the tournaments best defenders so far. It was his stirring performances that kept Portugal in the bay and he did the same against the English team. The last night his performance was pretty sensational as he came with a brilliant equalizer for the Iceland team. If Iceland even dares to think of a spot in the semifinals then will definitely want the performance of this guy on the next level.
- Julian draxler
The German team is blessed with so many superstars that it becomes impossible to pick one out of them who was the star performer for them in the game, but with Julian Draxler’s last performances it was a completely different case as it was he who ran rampant on the Slovakian defense and produced some strong runs and gave them the width that Marco Rues used to give them. He was a sub player in the 2014 world cup, but has become an important player in the German squad with his agility and improved final ball.
Kevin de Bruyne
I have praised Kevin de Bruyne so much since the start of the tournament that I have lost words and the same was his performances in Belgium. He has been brilliant and pitch perfect in every game he has played for the Belgium team. His set piece deliveries are the one that has troubled the opposition most and his impressive movements combined with his crosses and key passes have been all lethal for the Belgium team and the same was his performance in the match against Hungary where he ended the match with w assists.
- Eden Hazard
Eden hazard had a horror campaign for Chelsea last year and it looked like he will be the same at the Euros too, but since the start of the tournament it looked that he will be back in his strides soon and that did happen when he exploded against Hungary and in the process blew them away. This was one performance that marked his comeback and made that match completely one sided and the solo goal which he scored was one of the best goals of the tournament.
